South Alabama pharmacy tech sought in drug thefts

DAPHNE, Ala. (AP) - A pharmacy worker in Baldwin County is being sought in the theft of thousands of prescription pain pills.

Baldwin County Sheriff's Major Anthony Lowery said an investigation determined about 5,400 hydrocodone pills were pilfered between July 2007 and September 2008.

The missing pills were discovered in an audit.

An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for 34-year-old Rebecca Ann Beaty of Daphne. She faces 65 counts of 2nd degree theft.

Her attorney said he's trying to get Beaty to turn herself in.
