MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Vivian Davis Figures and Republican 2nd Congressional District candidate Jay Love had the stage all to themselves during a candidates forum at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery.
Democratic 3rd Congressional District candidate Bobby Bright did not attend the forum Tuesday because of the death of his sister.
Bright has suspended his campaign until Thursday. The forum moderator, Kim Hendrix, said Republican U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions
declined the invitation to the forum.
A spokesman for Sessions, Chuck Spurlock, said Sessions had other commitments Tuesday.
Figures said she was running to provide visionary leadership for Alabama in the U.S. Senate.
Love promised he would fight any attempts to raise taxes during the current tough economic times.
