MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A Mobile jury has convicted a woman of
aggravated child abuse in the death of her premature baby in 2005.

Circuit Judge John Lockett set sentencing of 28-year-old Kristy
Raymond Pettway for Nov. 6.

The jury on Friday convicted Pettway in the death of the
5-month-old baby, Joshua Webster Jr. The infant was taken to a
Mobile hospital on Oct. 13, 2005, with Pettway saying he had begun
choking at home and was unresponsive. He died that day, with the
cause of death undetermined..

Pettway, who had an older child taken from her by authorities,
was arrested last year on the abuse charge. Defense attorney Pete
Vallas argued that Pettway's child died from complications from his
premature birth.
