North Alabama lawyer indicted in child sex abuse case

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A north Alabama attorney has been
arrested on multiple charges involving the alleged sexual abuse of
two girls earlier this year.

The attorney general's office said 49-year-old John Hamilton McLain V of Athens was arrested Friday and accused of enticement,
sexual abuse, kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment of two girls.

McLain was indicted Sept. 5 for allegedly picking up two girls, ages 12 and 13, in his car and taking them to his house. The indictments accuse the man of two counts of sexual abuse involving the girls.

Police said the victims were at McLain's home for about seven hours.

McLain also is an accountant. The attorney general, in a statement, said McClain was taken by deputies to the Madison County Jail. It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
