2 Officers in South Alabama Credited With Rescue

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (AP) - Two Fairhope, Ala., police officers are being credited with a daring rescue.

Sgt. Curtis Sullivan and Officer James Nelson pulled three adults from a burning house on Magnolia Ave. early Tuesday. Assistant Fire Chief John Saraceno said the man, his wife and a nurse were trapped in a rear bedroom

Saraceno said he was amazed the officers entered the burning structure without fire gear or respirators.

The five were not seriously injured.

It took firefighters several hours to bring the blaze under control.

The state Fire Marshal has not determined how it started.
