ATMORE, Ala. (AP) - Two inmates who walked away from their work release jobs in Atmore are back in custody following their arrests early Monday at a motel in Pensacola, Fla.
Department of Corrections spokesman Brian Corbett said 34-year-old Charles Douglas Bales and 42-year-old John Rice fled from a work site on Sept. 17.
Corbett said a tip led officers to the motel.
Rice was serving a sentence out of Baldwin County for receiving stolen property. Bales was convicted of robbery.
Corbett said each man faces an escape charge and could serve additional jail time.
