Bush No Longer Visiting Alabama Thursday

WASHINGTON (AP) - The White House says President Bush won't be visiting Alabama on Thursday after all.

The president will instead be working with his advisers on the latest challenges facing the U.S. economy.

Bush had been scheduled to tour a waste facility and appear at a fundraiser in Huntsville. Vice President Dick Cheney will attend the fundraiser. Bush had also planned to visit Florida on Thursday.

White House spokesman Tony Fratto said late Wednesday that the president will continue to work with his economic advisers on problems in the U.S. financial markets.

Fratto says the presidentis focused on stabilizing and strengthening the markets to restoreinvestor confidence.
