Alabama Auto Plant Shortens Work Week

The German automaker said starting next month, its 4,000 employees will work four days a week.

Mercedes executives said the decision was based on sluggish
sales. Employees were informed about the changes yesterday.

n late July, Mercedes previously announced it was reducing
production of vehicles made at its plant.

The cutbacks also prompted some of Mercedes's suppliers to
reduce their operations.
