BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Police found two people dead in a Powderly home Tuesday after they fired tear gas and entered the residence to end a six-hour standoff.
The bodies are believed to be those of a man who police say shot
his stepson earlier in the day and then held his own wife hostage
before the two were found dead shortly after 6 p.m.
Authorities were called to the home around 12:15 p.m. on a report of a person shot.
Police found 20-year-old Torrence Felton outside the house with
a gunshot wound to the head. UAB Hospital officials said they
didn't have a condition on Felton.
Lt. Henry Irby said a female relative came to the scene and told
police her stepfather and mother were inside the house.
Police then surrounded the home and identified the suspected
shooter as Felton's stepfather and the hostage as Felton's mother.
