Driver Sought in Hit and Run Death

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Alabama state troopers are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a woman overnight in northwest Mobile County.

It occurred around 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Lott Road near Spice Pond Road.

Trooper Corporal Byron Piggott said 27-year-old Nazanene Malahnejad of Semmes was walking south along the roadway when she was struck from behind by "possibly" a dark colored van.

Malahnejad died early Monday around 4 a.m. at the University of South Alabama Medical Center.
