OZARK, Ala. (AP) - A former jailer who pleaded guilty to having
sexual relations with two Dale County Jail inmates has been told he
will have to register as a sex offender.

Stanley Hamilton of Ozark was sentenced Thursday to two years on
probation after pleading guilty to custodial sexual abuse.

Dale County Circuit Judge P.B. McLauchlin told the 49-year-old Hamilton
he would have to register as a sex offender.

That means Hamilton will have to register his address with police and notify law enforcement when he moves into a new community.

Authorities say an investigation by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation showed the sexual relations were consensual.

But a state law passed by the Legislature in 2004 prohibits anyone in a
position of authority at a jail from having sexual relations with a
prisoner.

Sounds like the new sheriff is over his head. For someone who started their law enforcement career in that jail he sure is having a hard time keeping it straight and true.
