DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (AP) - Officials on Dauphin Island have closed the west end public beach until the threat from Tropical Storm Gustav has passed.
Labor Day weekend activities on the beach have been canceled.
Mayor Jeff Collier told the Press-Register newspaper that equipment was being moved from the beach to a more secure location.
He said the beach would reopen after the storm threat has ended.
