BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Shelby County authorities are still
trying to identify five men whose bodies were found inside a locked
apartment in suburban Birmingham.
Sheriff's Department spokesman Ken Burchfield said Thursday
investigators also were awaiting results of forensic examinations
before discussing how the men died.
He declined comment on reports that their throats had been slashed.
Officers went to the sprawling Cahaba Lakes complex after
receiving a call from someone who was unable to get in touch with a
friend at the apartment.
Authorities initially had difficulty entering because the door was bolted. They found the bodies when they managed to get in about
6 p.m. Wednesday.
