Clearing of the Wadlington Hotel debris continues today. How are local businesses holding up?
The Dothan Downtown Redevelopment Committee said public safety was the top priority throughout the demolition. Officials were forced to block off the majority of parking on Foster Street. The road is now down to one lane.
"Well, we have been really excited because after the summer it got a little slow and then we saw things start to pick up, especially with the other businesses, so we were excited and now with the demolition and the streets being blocked off people are getting the impression we aren't doing business," said Kathleen Rane at the Good News Shop.
Local businesses want to remind patrons they are open. Plenty of parking is available near the Civic Center. The demolition clearing is expected to last four to five more days. Best case scenario has the road back to normal by Friday.
