Jury Acquits Birmingham Man in Fatal Restaurant Shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Jefferson County jury found a Birmingham man not guilty of intentional murder and assault charges in a restaurant shooting despite a woman's testimony that he fired the shots.

The defendant, 20-year-old Andrew Bonner, acquitted yesterday, was charged in the March 4th 2006, death of 24-year-old Steven Hines, who was shot seven times inside the Wing Out restaurant.

Three people were wounded.

Bonner testified he was not at the restaurant that night and denied shooting anyone.

A witness, Lachic Henderson, who identified Bonner as the shooter, said an argument started because the defendant had cut in line to order wings.

Defense attorney Emory Anthony Jr. challenged her credibility.

Anthony told jurors even detectives didn't believe Henderson after her initial identification of Bonner.

Other people at the restaurant, including the three who were wounded, said they could not identify the assailant.
