To stand up for Wiregrass veterans, several groups are joining together and "standing down."

8 AM - 3 PM

In military life a stand down is a time to stop everything and focus on one specific area of concern.

In this instance, The House of Benjamin and more than 6 other organizations are concentrating on veterans.

They’re hosting a Stand Down Wednesday at the Dothan Civic Center to provide veterans with food, haircuts, health care services, employment opportunities and much more.

"The culture of the military is, ""I don't need help, I'm self sufficient I’m the one that goes out and protects and does these kind of things,"" so this event lets them know that these services are available and it's alright to come in and say I’ve got a problem and I need help,” said Earl Jones Jr., Director of The House of Benjamin.

This is the third year for the event

Directors expect more than 300 veterans to attend.
