KINSEY POLICE DEPARTMENT
Tuesday, September 7, 2010, Kinsey Police Department recieved information that an unregistered sex offender was living in Kinsey at 194 Corvette Drive. Further investigation revealed that Billy Ray Ellis was also a fugitive from justice out of Kentucky where he has charges of sexual assault to a minor child. Houston County Sheriff's office was contacted and a traffic stop was conducted that lead to the arrest of Billy Ray Ellis. Billy Ray Ellis was placed in the Houston County Jail facing felony charges of a fugitive from Justice, failure to register as a sex offender in the State of Alabama and escape third degree. Also a search of the residence led to the recovery of marajuana and the arrest of Jesse Brian Sherouse of that same
address on Corvette Drive. The Alabama Department of Human Resources was contacted due to a sex offender living in a residence with a minor. Billy Ray Ellis also has a hold placed on him for Kentucky and the United States
Marshall Service. Chief Whitehead and Kinsey Police Department would like to thank Houston County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshall Service for the assistance in the apprehension of this fugitive from justice.
