MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Death row inmate Holly Wood is scheduled
to be executed by lethal injection at Holman Prison in Atmore.

The execution of the 50-year-old Wood is to be at 6 p.m. Thursday for the Sept. 1, 1993 shotgun slaying of his former girlfriend, 34-year-old Ruby Gosha, at her home in Troy.

Wood still has two appeals pending. The U.S. Supreme Court is considering an appeal from Wood that says he shouldn't be executed
because of a mental disability.

Also, Gov. Bob Riley is yet to decide on a clemency petition filed by Wood's attorneys asking that the execution be stopped.

Barring a last minute reprieve, Wood is expected to spend Thursday visiting with friends and relatives and eating a final meal.
