Ala. GOP Justice Gives to Democratic Candidate

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A Republican justice on the Alabama Supreme Court has given a $5,000 campaign donation to a Democratic
candidate who is trying to unseat a Republican on the court.

Justice Tom Woodall says he gave the donation last week to Democratic Circuit Judge Mac Parsons of Jefferson County. Parsons
is running against Republican Supreme Court Justice Tom Parker. Woodall told the New York Times Regional Newspapers that the donation speaks for itself.

Woodall is a former circuit judge in Jefferson County and briefly served with Parsons. Parsons called Woodall "a fine justice," but he said they haven't discussed the contribution.

A spokesman for the Alabama Republican Party, Philip Bryan, said the party fully supports Parker.
