Ala. Man Dies After Confrontation With Deputies

GADSDEN, Ala. (AP) - The man shot and killed at his home near Boaz in a confrontation with sheriff's deputies has been identified as 55-year-old Anthony Ray Sampson.

Etowah County Sheriff Todd Entrekin said Monday that Sampson was
shot and killed at his home Sunday afternoon.

Entrekin says three uniformed deputies went to the home on Sunday to serve a felony drug warrant and were met by a man with a pistol.

Entrekin says the deputies opened fire and called for backup. The sheriff said the deputies identified themselves as law enforcement officers when the entered the house. He says the deputies were attempting to serve a warrant on another man, Bobby Ray Emery, who resides at the same address.
