Gulf Oil Spill: What's Next?

Engineers plan to begin removing the temporary cap on the blown-out well in the Gulf.

Once the cap is off, they’ll be able to raise the failed blowout preventer that is considered a key piece of evidence in the investigation into the spill.

Officials don’t expect oil to leak into the water again when the cap is removed, but crews will be standing by just in case.
