BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Grocers Association has
endorsed Republican John McMillan for state agriculture commissioner.
Association President Ellie Taylor says McMillan understands the
needs of the grocery industry. The commissioner oversees the state Department of Agriculture and Industries, where the duties food safety and inspection of scales for accuracy.
McMillan is a former legislator and former state conservation commissioner. He faces Democrat Glen Zorn in November.
The Alabama Grocers Association is a trade association representing the entire grocery industry from retailers to wholesalers and distributors.
