FORT PAYNE, Ala. (AP) - There will be plenty of music in the air this weekend in DeKalb County.
It's time for the 102nd DeKalb County Fiddler's Convention.
Fiddlers of all ages will compete Saturday at the convention starting at noon at Fort Payne Middle School. Registration begins at 11 a.m.
The Fort Payne Times-Journal reports that proceeds from the convention go to fund arts programs in DeKalb County.
Categories of competition include dobro, old-time banjo, bluegrass banjo, guitar, mandolin and blue grass band.
Big Wills Arts Council Director Russell Gulley said one of the convention's most popular categories is for children up to 10-years-old. He said some of the young fiddlers are "amazing."
