MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (AP) -- One man was killed and another person seriously injured when their car hit a tree in Colbert County.
Police said 24-year-old Anthony Ray Hankins died in the crash Saturday morning.
The driver, 34-year-old Tomeeka Byrd, was taken by hospital to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence.
Byrd was later taken to Huntsville Hospital.
Emergency crews told The Times Daily that the driver apparently lost control of a 2008 Ford Taurus.
The car went off the road, ran over a ditch and struck a tree.
Hankins was thrown from the car.
