Woman's Ashes Go Up in Fireworks

But for these Kingston, Tennessee family members, it will also be the day they finally say goodbye to a beloved family member.

87-year-old Katherine Walker died back in April from lung disease.

Her family cremated her remains.

And tonight, they're sending her ashes up with the city's fireworks display.

The family says the Fourth of July fireworks were one of Walker's favorite events.

"We knew that mother would want to be a part of this and that we wanted to do something with her ashes at the Fourth of July."

Walker's loved ones say they did spread her ashes in some of her other favorite places as well.

But, they say tonight's fireworks will really be a huge part of the healing process for them.
