Six Wheeled Supercar

The drive of the future or a clever gimmick - you decide.

One thing's for sure, the Covini C3A is turning plenty of heads.

The six-wheeled supercar packs a 500 horsepower punch, reaching top speeds of 190 miles an hour

Designer and Test Driver Gianluca Covini says four front wheels offer better traction, plus higher cornering speeds and more effective braking.

Covini designer and test driver, Gianluca Covini, saying:

''We have dampers inboard on the front, and double wishbone on both wheels and then a special steering wheel system that guarantees a different angle for all the front tyres.''

And exclusivity comes high on the list - the C3A will retail at over a million dollars.

Six-wheelers were banned in Formula One in the 1980s and even F1's Lewis Hamilton hasn't seen the new design.

Formula one driver, Lewis Hamilton, saying:

''Have you seen it? (Off-camera McLaren Automotive Test Driver, Chris Wood says ''Yeah it looks great. But I don't think we're going to copy it any time soon.'') No, no, I'll pretty much stick to four-wheelers it's all good.''

So - extra rubber isn't to everyone's taste but one thing's for sure - it's a performance enthusiasts dream.

Covini designer and test driver, Gianluca Covini, saying:

''It has good handling. Amazing handling. I'm a test driver so I tried to make this car very enjoyable to drive.''

The best way to see for yourself will be from behind the wheel, but with only 20 on the market per year you might be joining a very long queue.
