You can find a lot of interesting things for sale at an auction...even human remains.
A Pennsylvania auction house had two human skeletons up for bid Tuesday - a man and a woman.
"How about a thousand dollars? A thousand it is."
It was just another day at tom hall's auction house in Schnecksville... Until...
"Here she comes."
They wheeled this thing in.
"It's the first time we've had a full body."
"We are offering the gentleman first...."
That's right-- two.. Full human skeletons... Dating back at least 100 years... Right up there.. On the auction block.
Reporter: ("Can you imagine ever buying this?")
Reporter: ("But you came out to look at it.")
"Well, why not?"
Reporter: ("Think you would ever buy that?")
"Eh, no. What would I do with it?"
Not much is known about who these people were. It's obvious from the stapling that these bodies were donated -- the bones held intact.
"It came to us from a gentleman who collects bizarre kinds of interesting things. He purchased them years ago at an auction in New York City. It was part of a mortician's collection. He had sort of a mini-museum for them."
"We have an 800 dollar bid, now 900."
There weren't too many takers in the end, the buyer was an antique store owner from Lancaster County...who already has one skeleton on display.
Reporter: ("What in the world do people want with these things?")
"I have no idea, but there isn't a week that goes by that someone doesn't come in and really try and buy them."
So how much did the skeletons sell for?
The man sold for nine hundred dollars and the woman for 950 dollars.
