Going Nude To Beat The Heat (Funny!)

Forget the bathing suits...

People in California are turning to their birthday suits to get some relief from the summer heat.

Tony Lopez has the story.

"I tell you, Dave, if you have friends who live in a nudist colony tonight wouldn't be a bad night to visit"

It was that comment to Dave during Wednesday night's broadcast that sparked an e-mail...

From this nice lady-- kitty, who told us the naked truth…

It’s a nudist resort-- not a colony-silly.

And business thanks to our heat wave has never been better:

So we ventured out to Wilton-- to Laguna del Sol—

On, yes, Rawhide Lane-- to see how these sun-drenched skinny dippers are soaking in this summer sizzler:

"Obviously, everybody wants to wear as little as possible when it's hot.

I mean, it's too hot to mow the lawn. You see people going places where there is water and it's just a great place to go."

Suzanne Schell-- and her hubby-- have been urging people to come out of their shell for years.

But fighting through the stigma of being a nudist hasn't been easy:

(Reporter): "What's the biggest misnomer or misconception people have about nudist?"

"I think they think it's a sexually-oriented recreation and it's not."

The Schells call this 250-acre resort-- family friendly...

And even though they're nude, dude...

No shenannigans are allowed...

Just good clean fun:

"It's a recreation like any other camp ground or resort. We have archery here. We have.. pickle ball is very popular right now, water volleyball."

(Reporter): Archery might be kind of dangerous. Got to be kind of careful, huh?"

"Well, that's true (laughs)."

Their sense of humor was easy to find—

Uh, where would they hide it?

Lisa here isn't hiding anything...

She's one of 80 full-time residents of Laguna del Sol--
and wouldn't have it any other way:

"It's absolutely heaven everyday. When you come in here to come home... All your stress is left right at the gate."
others say being here fuels their "fountain of youth"—

From hoppin' on a bike, to enjoying the scenery, to soaking in the pool.

It got us thinkin'.. Who was really the fool on this 100-plus degree day:
"I know you're definitely hot.. it's time for a swim (laughs)!"

(Reporter): "Turn the camera off!"
