LYNN HAVEN, Fla. (AP) -- An animal shelter in Florida's Panhandle won a year's supply of pet food.

The Lynn Haven Animal Shelter took second place in a contest sponsored by IAMS Dog Food. The dog and cat food was delivered to the shelter this week.

Animal control manager and on-site manager Ramona Bibbs told the News Herald of Panama City it was a big surprise when a truck pulled up to make the delivery. She says she entered the contest online in April by filling out a questionnaire.

Bibb says 12,000 pounds of food will be a boost for the shelter, where the food pantry is generally stocked with a mixture of donations and purchased items. She says they'll now be able to spend more money on sick and injured animals.
