Double Bacon Wrapped, Double Fried Corndog

It's almost unfair what they do with the fare at the state fair.

It seems like almost every kind of food can be fried up and served on a stick.

Reporter Mark Tauscheck searched high and low at this year's Iowa State Fair and found a new cholesterol-laden creation that's become this year's taste sensation.

The Eating Olympics...some call it the state fair....has begun....

Giant hunks of meat...

...every item comes wrapped in edible packaging...

chocolate everything...

Mullets...

Pick your poison folks...

I mean...just look at that - poor turkey never had a chance....

Of course, the king of all foods fair has been and always will be....

"corn dog!!!! (ketchup on face)

Which is why so many new food fads imitate this basic concept...take something good...and deep fry...

Last year, it was deep fried butter...that Anna Fry - yes, her last name is Fry - tried for the first time this year...

"bite-really good it's so good.."

Ms. Fry was just getting started....

"i'm gonna eat a bite of butter....oohhhhh!"

And it gets better...in fact a crowd the size of a midway freak show gathered to see her drink....what was left over...

"ohhhhhhhh!"

But deep-fried butter is soooo 2011...this year...crowds are lining up for another member of the corndog family tree...

"two - bacon wrapped corn dogs? Ten dollars.."

Yes - bacon wrapped corn dogs...

"what does it taste like? Bacon..and a corn dog...(slappy)

Campbell's Concession pre-wrapped 12 thousand before the fair even started...and it's a good thing they did...

"before noon we had already sold a thousand or at least close to it..."

No one we saw walked away disappointed...

"five dollars - they're worth it let me tell ya..."

"deep fried goodness, with bacon wrapped around a hotdog.."

They premade almost 12 thousand - by the end of the day - there could only be about 10 thousand left...and yes...

Anna Fry had one of those too.
