The 2014 Florida Primary is a month away and voters hoping to participate are coming up on a registration deadline.
All new voter registrations or changes to political party affiliation need to complete by this upcoming Monday, July 28th. Potential voters have to be at least 18 years old by the primary day and be a U.S. citizen. Because Florida is a closed primary state, in this upcoming election, voters are only eligible to vote the ballot of the party in which you are registered.
"To vote in any election is a privilege and whether we have one item or twenty or 100 on the ballot it's very important that our citizens take advantage of that privilege and that opportunity," said Sylvia Stephens, the Jackson County Supervisor of Elections.
Early voting will also be available to those wanting to avoid election day lines. Early voting will be available between August 16-23.
