These are a few of the most notable video game releases for home computers and gaming consoles in North America for the month of August 2013.
Pikmin 3 - August 4th (Nintendo WiiU, Rated E-10, Nintendo) - The second sequel to the original GameCube release, Pikmin 3 takes players to alien worlds, where they control explorers and creatures called Pikmin will solving puzzles and avoiding enemies. The game can be controlled with the WiiU Gamepad or the Wii remote and Nun-chuck combination. A multiplayer mode is also available.
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team - August 11th (Nintendo 3DS, Rated E10, Nintendo) - The fourth in the Mario & Luigi role-playing series that began on the Game Boy Advance, this handheld exclusive takes the heroic plumbing duo into the dream world of Luigi. As part of the "Year of Luigi" promoted by Nintendo, this game merges traditional RPG battles with touchscreen controls and uses a mix of two-dimensional and three-dimensional art.
Angry Birds Trilogy - August 13th (Nintendo Wii & Nintendo WiiU, Rated E, Activision) - The Wii and WiiU versions of Angry Birds Trilogy collect together the first three games of the mega-hit Angry Birds series. These include the original, Seasons, and Rio. Players control a set of birds through increasingly-challenging puzzles in an effort to defeat a group of sinister pigs. Extra levels can be found on both of these versions. Angry Birds Trilogy has already been released on the Nintendo 3DS handheld as well as the Microsoft X-Box 360 and Sony Playstation 3 home consoles.
Ducktales Remastered - August 13th (Playstation 3 & Nintendo WiiU & PC, Capcom, Rated E10) - This downloadable game is a remastered remake of the original Ducktales game on the Nintendo Entertainment System. With new 3D graphics as well as other new features and elements, players control Scrooge McDuck through levels to retrieve lost treasure. The game has the original voice talent from the hit 80s Disney animated series as well.
Madden NFL 25 - August 27th (Playstation 3 & X-Box 360, Electronic Arts, Rated E) - The 25th anniversary of the long-running NFL football gaming franchise will come to current consoles first in August. Barry Sanders is on the cover of the game, which lets players control their favorite professional football players and teams from a single game to a franchise. Later in the year, versions will be coming to the upcoming Playstation 4 and X-Box One consoles. A version for Nintendo consoles is not in development.
