Animated cartoon characters, resurrected dinosaurs and gangsters unite on retail shelves this week on home video.
Here are some of the notable home video releases in the United States (Region 1) for the week of April 23rd, 2013:
“Looney Tunes Super Stars: Sylvester and Hippety Hopper: Marsupial Mayhem” (Warner Home Video) – This budget-minded “Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies” releases includes 18 of the original theatrical shorts featuring Sylvester the Cat, his son, and the fighting kangaroo, Hippety Hopper. Many of these shorts, spanning the years of 1948 to 1963, have never been released on DVD in the past.
“Gangster Squad” (Warner Home Video, Rated R) – This feature, starring Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling, is set in 1940s Los Angeles. It involves a clash between the mob and the police. The Blu-Ray release of the film includes such extra features as an audio commentary, a picture-in-picture look at the film, and deleted scenes.
“Jurassic Park 3D” (Universal Studios, Rated PG-13) – Following the 2013 3D re-release of the 1993 dinosaur flick for the 20th Anniversary, a home video release will be coming out on Blu-Ray. It will include that new version of the film along with extras such as trailers for all three films and storyboards.
