National Free Comic Book Day Celebrated in Wiregrass

Comic books have been around for many decades and range from sprawling superhero epics, to light-hearted fantasy, to pure comedy and much more.

Comic books have been around for many decades and range from sprawling superhero epics, to light-hearted fantasy, to pure comedy and much more. And, comic book fans ranging from casual to the passionate lined up at Empire Comics in Enterprise Saturday, for Free Comic Book day.

And, comic book fans ranging from casual to the passionate lined up at Empire Comics in Enterprise Saturday, for Free Comic Book day.

It's a nationally sponsored event, aimed at getting people interested in the stories and characters on these pages.

Batman, Robin and Superman made appearances. The Alabama Ghostbusters and some Star Wars characters were there as well.

Local comic book creator Brett Brooks even offered custom sketches for store visitors.

Store owners say this has been the best free comic book day, yet.
