The Dothan Police Department inspected car seats earlier today for free outside of the Southside Wal-Mart.
Statistics show more than one-half of all child car safety seats are installed or used incorrectly without parents even realizing it. That's why members of the Dothan Police Department decided to inspect cars seats today for free. Dothan police officers say this is all about shielding children away from harm in the case of an accident.
"Not only as a member of the Dothan Police Department but as a father this reaches home for me. I've worked motor vehicle crashes before seeing children involved and I've seen when there properly installed and what that means. A properly installed child safety seat will save your child and that's what we're here for is to help you and show you the proper way to do it," said Adam Davis an investigator with the Dothan Police Department.
Dothan police officers also want to remind parents about booster seats. If your kids are twelve and younger and the seatbelt doesn't fit them properly the law says you do have to use a booster seat.
