A remastered version of a 1989 Nintendo video game loved by critics and fans alike will be released on modern video game systems this summer.
In 1989, Capcom released the original DuckTales game for the Nintendo Entertainment System, based on the Disney Afternoon animated series of the same name. It was a single-player platformer game that drew both critical acclaim and adoration from fans.
Even after several generations of gaming have passed, the Capcom game is still discussed and some fans have been wanting a re-release or re-make for years.
On Friday, at the Penny Arcade Expo East 2013, Capcom announced a high-definition remake of Ducktales for the Wii U, X-Box 360 and Playstation 3.
Developed by Wayforward Technologies, makers of games such as the also-critically-acclaimed platformer Shantae, it will feature all new 3D graphics while still taking place on a 2D plane. However, those behind the game say that many levels of the original Nintendo game will be present, along with new content.
In addition, many of the original voice actors from the animated series, such as Alan Young and June Foray, will be returning to their roles.
It is planned for release through downloadable services in the summer.
