Some of the noteworthy home video releases hitting shelves this week include a smash-hit mini-series, a collection of superhero movies, and the latest installment of an enduring anime franchise.
Here are some of the notable home video releases in the United States (Region 1) for the week of April 2nd, 2013:
“The Bible: The Epic Miniseries” (20th Century Fox, DVD & Blu-Ray) – This ten-part miniseries that originally aired on the History Channel focuses on what is called by some to be “the greatest story ever told.” Based on the Holy Bible of the Christian faith, the mini-series, produced by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett, spans the text from Genesis to Revelation.
“Marvel Cinematic Universe – Phase One” (Walt Disney Video, Blu-Ray) – This large collector’s set include the series of films based on Marvel Comics properties from the past few years, including Iron Man 1 & 2, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and The Avengers. It also includes a top secret bonus discs and 3D versions of some of the films.
“Pokémon the Movie 15: Kyurem vs. The Sword of Justice” (VIZ Media, DVD) – Although still released in theatres in the franchises’ country of origin, the Pokémon movies are direct-to-video (after TV airing) in the United States. The fifteenth Pokémon feature film follows Ash Ketchum and friends on their latest adventure through the world of Pokémon. It stars the voice talent of Sarah Natochenny and Eileen Stephens for the American dub.
