Dothan Headstart students are taking home full backpacks this weekend.

The Wiregrass Area United Way Foodbank donated 270 bags of food to the school today as part of their backpack program.

The Headstart program serves at-risk families and ensures that kids have a meal over the weekend.

The Foodbank hopes to grow the program to benefit more students.

The Wiregrass Food Bank donated food to Headstart Preschool.

WTVY went to the school and found out that the food donated will include healthy options like oatmeal, grits and fruit cups.

The food is to supplement what students would normally get during the week, for the weekend.
