Lockdown Drills Happening in Schools Across the Wiregrass

Schools across the country are checking out all lockdown plans, making sure they can prevent any danger against students.
Here in the Wiregrass it's the same scenario.
Only our cameras were rolling during the lockdown drill.
The Houston county school board has made sure each school in its system is fully prepared if an intruder tries to force his or her way into any school building.

It's a normal school day at Webb elementary, but what if an intruder enters the building planning to harm students?

"We have a hard lockdown," says Assistant Principal Brandy White.

After a top secret code is announced, students, teachers and administrators run for cover...

"We want the students hid, we want them out of harms way, everything is locked. You do not continue class," says Assistant Principal Brandy White.

Within seconds the hallways looks like this, empty.

With a bang at the door no one is moving around campus except law enforcement and select faculty members

And even though this may be a drill, there are other safety measures in place when lockdown procedures are not being enforced.

So during a normal school day at Webb elementary, the doors to the classroom are already locked, just in case anyone comes inside.

"We just make sure everything’s locked up, students are in their classrooms, but teachers can continue teaching, under normal circumstances we just try to keep the doors locked," says Assistant Principal Brandy White.

A safety precaution taken in order to keep these children safe.
