Backpacks may be the cause of children's back pain.
According to the consumer product safety commission, backpack injuries in 5 to 18-year-olds increased over 6 percent the past year.
But a doctor at children's health care of Atlanta explains there are ways to minimize the risk.
He says backpacks should weigh less than 15 percent of the child's body weight and have wide straps.
If the school allows, another option is buying a rolling book bag.
