(AP) -- The Bulls playoff-opening 103-91 victory over the visiting Philadelphia 76ers has proved to be a costly one. Bulls star Derrick Rose will miss the rest of the season because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in a staggering blow for a team that was eyeing a deep run in this year's playoffs. After missing 27 games while nursing various injuries and struggling down the stretch, Rose looked like the player who won the NBA's MVP Award last season. He scored a game-high 23 points while grabbing nine rebounds and dishing out nine assists before going down.

Smith scored 17 for the Knicks, who have lost 11 straight playoff games dating to 2001. Carmelo Anthony missed 12 of 15 shots and finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds

In the final game of the night, second-seeded Oklahoma City eked out a 99-98 win over the defending champion and seventh-seeded Dallas Mavericks. WALTHAM, Mass. (AP) -- Celtics guard Ray Allen is still not sure if he'll be able to play in Boston's postseason opener against the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. The 36-year-old shooting guard has not played in two weeks because of a sore right ankle. He was shooting around before practice with the team on Saturday, but coach Doc Rivers said Allen would not practice and he didn't think he would play in Game 1, either. Allen says he received a cortisone shot on Wednesday. He also says that if it weren't for the playoffs, he'd already be having surgery.
