MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The new Democratic nominee for chief justice, Jefferson County Circuit Judge Bob Vance, says he's bought new tires for his car and he's hitting the road to introduce himself to voters across the state.
The Democratic Party ousted its original nominee, Pelham attorney Harry Lyon, last week and replaced him with Vance on Wednesday.
Vance said it will be difficult having only slightly more than two months to campaign against the well-known Republican nominee, Roy Moore.
But he said he believes he can win the election Nov. 6 if he introduces himself to lots of Alabama voters.
Moore predicted that switching candidates late in the race will backfire on the Democratic Party.
