Send Disciplinary Action for Department Head

A department head for the city of Dothan is facing disciplinary action.

Sources say a secretly recorded conversation shows Tim Stewart, head of the city's information technology department, using the n word.

This was reportedly during a conversation with another employee.

That person has not been identified at this time.

Stewart faces a one week suspension without pay, mandatory sensitivity training and a temporary freeze in pay.

He will also be required to move within the city limits.

City policy requires all department heads to live in Dothan.

But Stewart currently lives in Geneva County.

City management was made aware of the recording.

City commission discussed the matter during Tuesday’s meeting, but no action was taken.
