Delta announced it's changing its frequent flier rules by adding a spending requirement.
The bottom rung of its sky miles medallion program will require a flier to spend at least 25-hundred dollars annually on tickets.
The next level requires five-thousand in ticket purchases, followed by 75-hundred dollars.
Top rung benefits will require 12-thousand-500 dollars in ticket spending.
The new requirements mean some fliers may get bumped down to a lower rung or even out of the program.
A Delta spokesman says adding the spending requirement ensures their most valued customers get the best program benefits and a more exclusive experience.
The change starts on January 1st, 2014, for membership status in the 2015 program.
