Road Closed and Electricity Out in Cowarts

Update- Broad Street between Highway 84 and Jordan Avenue is now open. _______________________________________________________
Cowarts, AL - Many Cowarts residents are without power Saturday afternoon.

A tree fell across North Broad Street onto a power line. Emergency responders say the tree appeared to be rotted.

The road cannot be cleared until Alabama Power cuts the electricity to that line. Then, the road and bridge department will remove the tree.

Until then Broad Street between Highway 84 and Jordan Avenue is closed to thru traffic.

Officials say it could take a couple of hours for power to be restored and the road cleared.
