WASHINGTON (AP) -- Saturday mail delivery will soon be a thing of the past.
The Postal Service says it will stop delivering mail to homes and businesses on Saturdays, though the mail will still be delivered to post office boxes.
Post offices that are now open on Saturdays will remain open. And packages will still be delivered on Saturdays.
The move is aimed at saving about $2 billion a year.
The move accentuates one of the agency's strong points -- package delivery has increased by 14 percent since 2010. The delivery of letters and other mail has declined with the increasing use of email and other Internet use.
