The Wiregrass is known as the "Peanut Capital of the World," and with that in mind, farmers have a large demand to live up to.
"The weather has been favorable for peanuts this year, up until the last two weeks," said Kris Balkcom, Extension Agronomist.
Balkcom says the showers the area has received were isolated, with some farmers saying one half of their farm could be getting rain, while the other half doesn't.
He says 2012 was one of the best years in peanut production, 2013 was just below that, and this year may be below average if the rain does not come pouring in within the next month.
