The convention is in full swing after Isaac threatened the possibility of it not being able to go on as planned.
But some political analysts say the real storm last night was wrapped up in Ann Romney and New Jersey governor Chris Christie, adding, both set the bar high to sway voters in Romney’s direction.
I talked by phone, with our local delegate to get his opinion on how the convention is going, and what a Romney nomination will mean for our area.
Cheers and applause throughout the convention hall in Tampa, but closer to home what will all the excitement mean for the wiregrass.
I spoke with Alabama delegate Judge Will Matthews for an inside look at this year's GOP convention.
And he says it's unlike any other.
"Oh they're very excited, and I think uh, it's going to be an interesting election, we're only 69 days away from today," says Judge Will Matthews delegate for Republican National Convention.
With that anticipation the woman who may know Mitt Romney best took the stage introducing her husband to the country.
Trying to convince female voters that her husband is the best candidate.
"I can't tell you what will happen over the next four years but I can only stand here tonight as a wife, mother, and grandmother an American and make you this solemn commitment, this man will not fail," says Ann Romney, wife of Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney
"Traditionally katrice, no republican, has ever gotten the majority of the female voters in an election and why that is I don't know," says Judge Will Matthews delegate for Republican National Convention.
Political pundits say New Jersey governor Chris Christie is a rising star in the Republican Party.
In his speech he encouraged voters to not side with the Democratic Party.
"And I am not afraid to say it, our ideas are right for America, their ideas have failed America," says New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
And Matthews agrees.
"The democratic philosophy is the more government in can be involved in your life, the better, the republican philosophy is the less government is involved in your life, is better, and I think we've seen all the abuses and government spending," says Judge Will Matthews delegate for Republican National Convention.
All in all what can a republican ticket do for the people of the wiregrass?
"I think everybody who lives in the wiregrass will agree that the number one industry in the wiregrass is Fort Rucker, and a republican president will have a better chance of protecting Fort Rucker for us than a democratic president," says Judge Will Matthews delegate for Republican National Convention.
