Some changes may take place this year in Jackson County schools.
The school board met Thursday to discuss staff reduction.

"What we have done is realigned our staff and as attrition has occurred people have retired, if the unit was not needed any longer at that school and we just didn't advertise for a position and fill that," said Kathy Sneads, Financial Director of Jackson County Schools.

Other topics on the agenda were the subtraction of two buses in the system, as well as basic maintenance of schools such as heating and cooling. Officials say they want to be frugal with the budget, yet make sure students are getting the best education possible.
