The winter storm placed layers of ice on various crops throughout the Wiregrass, inlcuding Dallas Hartzog's satsuma trees. When cold weather hits hard, the leaves curl up and drop off. If limbs fall in the winter, no fruit will grow and that would be considered a loss.
Hartzog is using science to recover from crop damage. He is using the freezing process to generate heat for the trees. This will reverse the effects of the cold weather.
